Mengen is a smart boy who is 11 years old now and study in grade 3 in primary school. His father died of AIDS when he was 4 years old. No more than 4 months, his mother remarried and brought him and his 11 years old sister to the new family. But the new home was much colder, not the happiness they dreamt of. His sister could not stand for the stepfather’s humiliation and has left the new family for staying with her grandmother. After that time, his sister lost the chance to go to school and have to find herself a job instead of study.

The disharmony of this reunion family and the pain always followed Mengen with his stepfather’s cold words. His mother has infected with AIDS. The disease was broke out last year, and she has lost her working ability gradually. After that time, the stepfather forced Mengen doing the housework and the farm work. There has one time Mengen wanted to do his home study and neglected his stepfather, he was hung between two trees, and lashed by branches by his stepfather…

The stepfather drove Mengen and his mother away when he found the mother’s health became worse and worse, and almost died. They came back to the old home. The mother has died this spring because of untimely help and cure.
